It takes some effort to hike one of the most beautiful trails on the island, but we assure you that it will pay off many times over. On your way, you will get to see a large number of karst phenomena such as canyons, cliffs, gorges, and rocky terrain, as well as centuries-old drystone walls made by shepherds, and stunning views of Baška, the island of Prvić, the Velebit range, and the coves of Vela luka and Mala luka.

After leaving Baška, head in the direction of the Bunculuka naturist campsite and walk along its outer edge. The trail will take you to the coast once again, adorned by cliffs and stunning beaches, and then further on to Vrženica Cove. Here, turn left into a canyon with narrow straits and high cliffs perched above. The trail through the Vrženica Canyon is a more demanding one, as you will need to use your hands and feet when climbing. Arriving at the crossroads of the Vrženica Canyon, follow the path to the right that will take you to the pass and the Rebica viewpoint. There you will be astounded by a surreal scenery: barren karst hiding two deeply indented coves with the glistening turquoise sea, Mala Luka and Vela Luka. Descend to Vela Luka following a steep and winding rocky trail. Take some time to sunbathe on the pebble beach or sip a refreshing drink in a nearby restaurant. On the Corinthia peak (112 m) above Vela luka lie the ruins of an early Byzantine fortress from the time of Emperor Justinian (6th century). Follow the path from Bosar, a settlement now completely in ruins, to reach the top, where the remains from different periods will take you on an exciting ride through the distant past. In ancient times, a Roman settlement was built there, which probably served to monitor the strategically important Senj Strait. Examples of Roman pottery and some golden Byzantine coins were unearthed in that area. Today, the Corinthia fortress and Bosar settlement are among the most valuable archaeological sites from the early Byzantine period. Hike back down the same way to the Rebica viewpoint and the crossroads at the Vrženica Canyon, where you will continue straight ahead, through scarce pastures with high drystone walls erected by laborious local shepherds. Passing through tight passages and along drystone walls, you will get back to the campsite and finally to Baška.

A demanding trail through the Vrženica Canyon to deeply indented turquoise coves of Mala Luka and Vela Luka offers a rewarding adventure.
