This 10-kilometre circular hiking trail, which starts and finishes in Risika, is perfect for those who want to enjoy a pleasant walk in the countryside and feel the spirit of the past. It boasts a variety of landscapes around the peak of St Chrysogonus, from wooded valleys to historical sites and vineyards.

The trail starts in Risika, a tranquil village surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, and descends to the valley where the idyllic Rakovik stream meanders through a forest of downy oak and hornbeam. Along the way, you will come across a stone bridge, one of the many examples of traditional architecture that show the skill of the local builders.

After crossing the bridge, the path leads up to the Gradec Castle, once the seat of the Frankopans, a powerful noble family that shaped the history of the island of Krk. The grandiose castle on the hill offers a beautiful view of the valley and is the perfect place for a short break to feel the vibes of the past.

You adventure continues through the woodland strips below Harbujica, interwoven with numerous drystone walls typical of the area. They were built without the use of any binder, which testifies to the remarkable building skills and efforts of the local inhabitants. A walk through the woods brings a calming aura, and the scent of pine and Mediterranean herbs completes the experience. The trail continues to the village of Garica, a picturesque and tranquil hamlet surrounded by fields and woods. A walk through the Stoza area will give you a taste of what island life is all about.

The trail then descends to Rovoznik, a part of the Vrbnik field known for its fertile soil and agricultural tradition. The last part of the trail is a gentle climb back to Risika. You will be spoilt for stunning vistas, the scent of Mediterranean herbs and historical landmarks throughout the trail, making it perfect for those who want to explore lesser known but incredibly attractive parts of the island.
