Along the ridge to the highest peaks of the island
The trail begins at the Treskavac pass (319 m above sea level) and leads to the highest peak on the island. At the Kaljužina junction, by the pond, a narrower path branches off and leads first through grassy and then rocky terrain. The downhill and uphill sections alternate dynamically through valleys dotted with ponds, and natural water sources for sheep, birds and game. Each valley is an opportunity to stop and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. In one of them, you will find a picturesque water phenomenon – Vela Lokva. At the end of the valley, the path climbs again through rocky terrain to the drystone walls and the crossroads ‘Na Plakari’.
There you can leave the road and walk to the Kunjalabor lookout (15 minutes), from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Baška valley and the town of Baška. After this pleasant break, return to the drystone walls and continue the gentle climb to the highest point – Obzova peak (569 m above sea level). It offers a panoramic view of the entire island of Krk and the surrounding islands. Take a break and enjoy the thrilling view. Return to Treskavac along the path that passes by the Lokvić and Brestovica peaks (552 m above sea level). All the way to Veli Vrh (541 m above sea level) you will get to enjoy an impressive view of Punat, the town of Krk and the surrounding islands.
After a walk under the clouds, the trail will take you downhill towards the Kaljužina and Žičevo crossroads, and then back to the starting point, the Treskavac pass. This route is rich in natural beauty, varied landscapes and spectacular views, making it ideal for experienced hikers and lovers of unspoilt nature.
