A walk through the vineyards of precious treasure

The seven-kilometre trail through vineyards is ideal if you want to combine easy walks in the countryside with a drop of excellent wine. It runs through a variety of landscapes – from narrow paths in the hinterland of Vrbnik to the fertile Vrbnik field with rows of Žlahtina vines – and offers a glimpse into the island’s way of life.

The trail starts in Vrbnik, a picturesque town perched high above the sea, famous for its rich cultural and Glagolitic heritage as well as superb wine. From there, it climbs towards Risika along an almost forgotten path through the woods, revealing many hidden corners. This section offers all the peace and quiet you can imagine, away from the crowds, with stunning sea views. When you reach the Črnikov area, take a moment to admire the view of the fertile Vrbnik field, covered with vines that produce the excellent wine called Žlahtina, which means precious or noble. A stroll through the vineyards brings an unparalleled sense of peace and connection with nature, letting the walker in on the long agricultural tradition of the island.

As you leave the vineyards, the trail descends back to the old town of Vrbnik. Carried away by the incredible views of the sea and the Vinodol Riviera, it will not be long before you find yourself in the town celebrated in the local song 'Vrbnik above the sea'. Take a stroll through its narrow alleys and make a toast to the olden days with a glass of exquisite wine.
