Day of sustainable living and friendship across borders
06.09.2025.
On Saturday, September 6th, 2025, Krk City will become the center of sustainable living - the final event of the Project "Less is More" will be held, organized by the Coast of Our Grandchildren association in cooperation with partners from the Slovenian Kras.
This one-day eco-event will begin with a gathering in Plav at 10:00 a.m., where we will be welcomed with a greeting from the mayor (BIKE PARK KRK, Senjska Street 5).
The first activity is a beach clean-up action at Plavnik. Educational activities are also planned during the cruise, and the collected marine waste will serve as a material for the afternoon workshop, "Smart Furniture."
Workshops for all ages and interests
Parallel, numerous workshops on sustainable household, fashion, packaging, gardening and recycling will be held in Plav:
Smart Household: Gastro blogger Ana Kominka will guide visitors through the world of herbs, yeast water, natural cleaning products, and microplastic-free households. Of particular interest will be a workshop on Kintsugi Tableware Restoration, a Japanese method of repairing ceramics with gold compounds, led by restorer Vlatka Janjić. Jasminka Gršković will present wool balls for washing machines.
Smart Fashion: Dean Kosić will talk about the impact of the fashion industry on the environment, and Karla Dorkić will lead a workshop on making unique jewelry from recycled plastic.
Smart Packaging: Martina Vranić will teach us how to make wax cloths - an ecological alternative to plastic and aluminum foil.
Smart Gardening: David Mrakovčić will give us a lecture on increasing sustainability in ornamental gardens; mulching, plant selection, protection, and fertilization... Participants will be part of an organized seed exchange.
Swap Flea Market: There will be an exchange of used clothes, so everyone is invited to bring what they no longer need - and maybe find something new!
Local family farms and eco-creatives will also participate in the event, and a few more surprises are being prepared. Hot meals and drinks will be available, with the recommendation that each participant brings their own recycled cup of sour cream or yogurt - to keep the event zero waste.
Together for a better future
The “Less is More” project is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg Slovenia-Croatia program, with the support of the Krk City, and the County of Sežana. By connecting the residents of Krk and the Slovenian Kras, the project encourages the exchange of knowledge, creative practices, and the creation of a community that recognizes the importance of sustainability.
Participation is free, but registration is recommended due to the organization of transportation, meals, and workshops. You can announce your arrival via e-mail obala@obala.hr or by calling +385 91 7299 586 (leave us your name, surname, and contact number).
Free parking is provided for participants.
Everyone – young and old, locals and guests – is invited to join this unique eco-day, learn something new, and leave the world at least a little better than they found it.
